Aspiring Rubaga North Member of Parliament Brian Tindyebwa contesting on National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket has promised to give 25,000 scholarships to people of Rubaga North once he is elected MP in the coming elections.

Tindyebwa is contesting against four other candidates, including the incumbent Moses Kasibante on the Democratic Party (DP) ticket, Beti Kamya on the Uganda Federal Alliance (UFP) ticket and Humphrey Mutebi who is independent.

Addressing hundreds of his supporters at a rally at Lugala in Rubaga division, Tindyebwa said although the education standards of the constituency are not the worst, students and pupils can do better if those that face school fees problems are helped.

“I will give out bursaries to students that want to study oil-related courses in Uganda and abroad,” Tindyebwa promised.

He further promised to help residents boost their businesses by giving them more capital to increase on their income and standards of living.

He explained that he will get the money to fulfill his promises from the Government and also from his influential friends.

Tindyebwa cautioned voters not to engage in any election violence, adding that they should welcome everyone regardless of their political parties for the development of their constituency.

He excited voters when he promised to avail each village in the constituency with two ambulances to help transport those in need of urgent medical attention.

Shirat Nakanjako, a resident of Lubya told The New Vision in an interview that she expects Tindyebwa to tackle the issue of security once elected and said they are facing a problem of thieves who break into their homes.

“Day or night thieves break into our homes, we no longer work as we stay home safeguarding our property,” Nakanjako said.

She explained that they have a police post in the area, but there a few police officers who cannot monitor the whole area day and night.

Tindyebwa was accompanied by other politicians, including aspiring Kampala Lord Mayor Dan Kazibwe, aspiring Rubaga division Mayor Kabugo Wilson, Aspiring Kampala Woman MP Asiah Nabisere and others.
