Lango Cultural Foundation (LFC) has applauded the re-election of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and congratulated the NRM for winning the recently concluded national elections.

“As Lango Chiefdom, we recognised the election of President Yoweri Museveni to serve Ugandans for the next five years and I also want to congratulate him and the NRM party for winning in this election which was highly competitive,” said the Lango Paramount Chief (Won Nyaci) Yosam Odur Ebii.

The Paramount Chief said he was also happy that the elections went peacefully. He called upon those who contested, but never went through to concede defeat and work with the winning party as they wait for another opportunity to contest.

Odur noted that NRM government should comfort those who lost in the elections and advise them to wait for another chance in future instead of firing them with annoying statements that can trigger insecurity.

For those who are not satisfied with the elections results, the Won Nyaci advised them to take peaceful route and seek court redress.

Won Nyaci’s message was contained in a condolence message read for him by the leader of Langi in the diaspora, Dr. Michael Odongo Okune during the burial of the late Kulacitameri Okweta at Amii, Ibuje sub-county in Apac district.

The Won Nyaci also urged the Government to take up the issue of animal compensation seriously and have everybody who lost their livestock during different insurgencies compensated.

Meanwhile Odongo in his own message urged the people of Lango to embark on serious work now that elections were over.

“Elections are over and soon the new government will be sworn in, but after all these as responsible individuals, we have to work hard and live well with our families.

He warned the people of Lango against joining anti-government moves that they do not understand well, saying it could land them in problems.
