Rogers Wadada one of the candidates for Budadiri west constituency in Sironko district has pulled out of the parliamentary race in favour of NRM’s Vincent Woboya.
He said his decision to drop from the race is to help rally support for NRM to win the parliamentary seat in Budadiri West, which is currently held by FDC’s Isiah Sasaga Jonny.
“I noticed that the opposition had fielded one candidate in the constituency and was gaining momentum and whereas I was NRM leading, I was splitting the vote,” Wadada said.
Wadada, a lawyer by profession who recently lost in the NRM primaries before picking forms to contest as independent, however, refuted any possibilities of having received money to pull out of the race.
He said much as he has spent close to sh300m in the campaigns, he is willing to offer support to NRM “even if it means monetarily.”
President Yoweri Museveni meanwhile compared his decision to pull of the race to support NRM to divorcing un hygienic woman
“When you want to devorce a dirty woman, you make her sit close to your relatives so that when you divorce her, they will not complain. So, this boy (Wadada) is from Sironko and the people of Sironko have felt the smell of FDC,”
Museveni said to a cheering crowd at Mbale Cricket crowd.
Wadada’s withdrawal now leaves Vincent Woboya NRM, David Woniala independent, Isoah Sasaga and and another independent Laban in the race.
